Homeless   A Sims 3 Journey < previous     archive     next >
One day in late July of 2012, I came up with the idea of trying a homeless Sims 3 game on the XBox 360. After playing it for a bit, I surfed around and found I was not the first to try, and that there are various challenging rulesets out there for those who wish to give it a shot. Or, you can make up your own version, as I did.

I also found the touching Sims story of Alice and Kev, which inspired me to document my own journey here. I started a bit late, so there aren't as many pictures at first (mouse-over them for additional randomness). Unfortunately, I lack decent technical equipment for the images so let's just pretend the "photographed by a potato" look is actually retro-filtered on purpose. 'Kay? 'Kay.

Throughout the story, there will be footnotes like this: [1]

Metagame information breaks up the flow of the story, but footnotes allow you to click and read my comments immediately if you like. There is also a handy link at the end of each footnote that will send you right back to where you were reading.

If you want to read the chapter first, each footnote has a handful of words at the beginning which describes the context, so you don't have to try and remember which number is which.

There are going to be things in this story that aren't literally possible in Sims 3, but are in the story anyways because that's how it played out in my mind. It's amazing how much of it is possible in the game, however.

Now it's time to put our poor protagonist on the streets...           To begin, let's: Introduce Michael
